Artist's Statement
Printmaking is like preliminary sketching for me-it sets new ideas into motion. The print Silent Rain is printed on rice paper, a quite durable paper that seems extremely delicate and has a transparency to it. Because I liked the way the ink looked through the paper, the image on the back became the front and the front became the back. Both are frozen while the title suggests otherwise. It is a naïve reconstruction of what I thought I remembered seeing. Silent Rain and Rushing Water are part of a continual exploration of and fascination with nature.
